Hi I am new here
Hello Everyone,
I saw the url for this site in Writer's Digest. I decided to join today. I just want to share a little about me. I am trying to work on brainstorming my first novel. I think I may have solved a hurdle in that direction because on a site somewhere I was able to download a free working word processor program.
Anyway I would love to hear about your novel trials and tribulations.
Your Friend,
Melanie

Abiword is pretty decent, though it has a few funkiness things. Open Office is another free one that's a bit more robust, but a bigger download and runs a little slower.

My Computer Program
charles-I did try downloading Open Office and had no success with it. I honestly don't think it works with my computer.

Yeah, Open Office is a great piece of software but it's a very large application and takes a lot more system resources to run well (and if you're on a Mac there are two versions of it that run differently and each has it's own issues to deal with, I've tried both and can't decide which one I prefer). We actually have a couple threads on writing software around here somewhere if you're interested in some of the other options out there (for Mac or PC).
