TUESDAY POETRY CHALLENGE...2-22-11

Postby Mlou » Fri Feb 25, 2011 1:24 pm

Anyone still tuning in? Have a word bank challenge and a scene for you hardy souls to create deathless poetry from...

1. bubble, arch, gray, bronze, amorphous, nib, ruffle, slot, petal, etch

2. Outside the window dawn is breaking...what do you see?
nothing is ever simply Yes or No. There's always a But...

Outside the window dawn is breaking
Thousands of antenna pierce frozen flesh
Make new fleeting homes while coaxing
Precious life through megshift openings
The derby half over; the day just begun
Hours of thawing before muscles awaken.
A flash of old glory; a plunge through crust
Wading to my ankles in glacial mush
But the libation is cold; and the meal hearty
In this my first ice fishing party
"Come to the dark side; we have coffee!"

Hiiiii, Hiss...I see you been lifting weights again!

Good write! My Dad used to take me ice fishing. I'd skate while he fished and then he'd cook pork chops on the end of an ice chisel over the fire. Ah, those days....:)

#2

A bronze arch etches its way
across shadow stubble into a pocketed petal
that you refused to shave.
Outside the window dawn is breaking
just below the ruffle cross-stitched curtain
and I see your gray eye in hollowed cumulus clouds.

Trying to force myself to write even if it is just ok.
