POETRY CHALLENGE - Nov. 29

Is it me, or does Tues. seem to be coming twice a week? Anyway, here are THIS Tuesday's challenges.

1. Are you a morning person or an evening one? Write a poem about one or the other and how you feel about it.

2. Another list for devotees of this particular challenge.
deep, bent, ahead, things, stretch, returned, sorrow, raised

3. Give us a poem about eating a peach. Let us really experience it.
(Or another fruit, if you prefer.)

Ok, I'm giving you fair warning - my poetry skills are lacking, but I'm really interested in improving, so any constructive criticism is appreciated.

Night's Song

And so my celestial friends shine
with a shimmering familiarity
on a velvet blanket as old
as Father Time himself.

Listen, little one, to the silence
and the many songs it sings,
whispering its secrets on
a cricket's tiny legs.

Hi, W.O.P.....Nice job. If you wish it to glide trippingly from the tongue, leave off the 's on Night's. Try enunciating that s just ahead of the s in song. See what I mean. Either they run together into one 2 anyway, or it's an awkward stop to make the both heard.
(Actually...don't hit me for this bit of info...it's not the cricket's legs but its wings that make their famous night music. They clash the edges of the two wings together and vibrate them. I know because *sigh* my daughter once kept a bowl of live crickets in her room for weeks!)

temptation

held lightly in my hands
firm and round, lush,
my head bends as
lips meet velvet skin
unable to resist
nibbling, as sweet juice
drips down my chin
where my tongue finds it,
savoring the flavor
of every drop.
