Screenplays

Postby funkywriter3 » Sat Oct 08, 2005 2:37 pm

Okay so I am writing a novel and in my novel I am including a play for a chapter. Does anyone know a good book, website, or resource I could use to help me with the basics of writing a screenplay? I would be much obliged if anyone could help me.

It's a good idea to study some actual scripts to see how they're formatted. http://www.dailyscript.com/ has lots of scripts you can download to study. A good challenge for us writers is to remember that movies are a visual medium. So a good screenwriter tries to limit scene and action descriptions etc. to things that the viewer will actually see, and limits the subjective stuff that we'd put into regular prose.
