750+ Members! 40,000+ Posts!

Postby charlesp » Sun Jun 06, 2004 7:44 pm

Wow! we've crossed 750 members in the last couple of days. A few days before that we passed the 40,000 post mark too. I'm so glad you're all here, and look forward to wordtripping with you for a long time to come. As we grow the site management are looking at new and interesting ways to improve your wordtrip experience. Thank you all for making WordTrip the friendliest (and I think the best) writing site on the net.

The people on this board seem a lot more laid back and friendly than on other ones I've been to. It's nice.

And to think I told CP this wouldn't work . . . "Why would a writer stop WRITING to come and hang out on-line?" I said.

Shows what *I* know . . .

I was right about one thing, though . . . we're STILL not making any money. Ah well. Y'all's friendship is reward enough.

Well, not ENOUGH, maybe, but it's a start . . .

Multi-tasking? I think the ability to do so decreases with age, at least so on my part. I just finished taking a cake out of the oven, putting clean sheets on the bed, mopping the dining room and kitchen floors and starting another load of laundry; and I was reminded while doing all of this of Julia Cameron's advice when doing mundane chores---her advice being to let the imagination flow and percolate and see what bubbles up when doing the mundane---like when taking a shower or sweeping the floor. I can't get past the single-mindedness of doing only one thing at a time. If I'm mopping the floor, I'm thinking about that patch of linoleum I just cleaned and whether I got it clean enough; and nothing else is percolating in my mind; except, occasionally all the other things I didn't get done. When I'm writing something, it is the same way. One thing at a time for me, no multi-tasking anymore---perhaps it is just my age, because I don't remember always being this way.

Multi-tasking or not, this site is a great community of encouragers and kind-hearted people, and of which I am proud to be a member. Congrats on the milestones!

Congratulations to Charles, Mudge and everyone else who work so hard to make this a great place to find inspiration, encouragement, and general all-round, good natured fun. Ya make me proud.

We're really growing! I hope we can keep alive the feeling of family as the site burgeons. That's a large part of what's so nice about WT.

What a wonderful feeling of accomplishment! I hope you both attain your goals of having WT become a profit making endeavor, but one thing at a time. You have first succeeded in creating a happy home for many of us to congregate. Keep up the great work!
