WOO-HOO! CONTEST!

Postby mae » Tue Jan 22, 2008 2:07 pm

Okay, you die-hard Wordtrippers - it has been over three months since our last contest. Time for a new one! And this time, we're offering a prize! The winner will receive a $10 Starbucks giftcard.

The topic is one I found on another writing board - so, yes, I stole it! I don't think they'll mind.

Write a poem from a wall's perspective. Any wall, anywhere, saying anything you want it to say. The contest I entered had an amazing variety of walls - and no, I'm not going to give you any ideas. You have to come up with those yourself.

The contest will close January 31, 2008. Please send your entries to me by PM and I will post them anonymously.

DO NOT POST YOUR POEM DIRECTLY ON THE BOARD. SEND IT TO ME BY PM.

Wordtrippers will vote on February 1 and 2.

Ple-e-e-e-ease don't make me beg you or threaten you or cajole you for entries. This is a fun one - and it has a prize! So, get to writing, my friends. I'm anxious to read your entries.

2 questions:

1. Is there a posting fee???
2. Is there a certain topic we must write about???

Thanks for posting a contest. It is not neccessary to give a prize away but you know it is good. Oh yeah, we should do these once a month. Just a suggestion.....
Have a good day!

Elle, I appreciate your enthusiasm (really, I do!), but if we held a contest every month, it would become a burden on the moderators and it wouldn't be a treat, anymore. People would lose interest. It's hard enough to browbeat people into entering when we only do it three or four times a year.

So, with all that bottled up enthusiasm, I expect to see your entry first in my PM inbox!

I see your point. I don't know about mine being the first because I'm still thinking. This one is stumped me. :)

What if the winner *gasp* doesn't drink coffee? Can the giftcard be from elsewhere?

i know it's shocking that someone out there may not drink coffee... however, please note that starbucks has all sorts of interesting things including games, great mugs, cd's... heck, if someone wins and doesn't want to check out their local starbucks, i'm sure someone will buy the gift card from them. :D

There is no such thing as Starbucks in my neck of the woods. I know you coffeeholics will find that impossible to believe. :D

Is there Little Caesar's Pizza near everybody? I can do that instead of you'd rather. You can't get a whole lot of pizza for $10 though.

We just had one put by the local high school and now that is all anyone ever eats. It is actually quite repulsive because kids just leave the pizza sitting out and it starts to smell.

We are getting a Starbucks in next year, but most of us go to B&N because they sell Starbucks coffee.
