Throughout the woodlands
surviving man and the axe
is an uphill path
"I write entirely to find out what I'm thinking, what I'm looking at, what I see and what it means. What I want and what I fear." -- Joan Didion (1934 - )

The gold of autumn
cannot be stored like treasure
except in mem'ry
nothing is ever simply Yes or No. There's always a But...

Lone tree on a hill
listens for whispers from others
carried on the wind.

Plains of far-seeing
where the wind sweeps endlessly
'neath forever skies.
nothing is ever simply Yes or No. There's always a But...

Luminous full moon,
ripe fruit in an empty sky,
so slowly you fall.

Big cat, little cat,
all cats play in fields of grass,
all cats are still cats.

Serengeti Plain
where the big cats take their ease
just lion around.

(Oooh, bad one!)

Come, the earth beckons,
showing jewels of delight
to our dazzled eyes
nothing is ever simply Yes or No. There's always a But...

when between the sky and sea
and how large as well

Cheetahs on the plain
sleek and swift, they hunt their prey,
a force of nature.
nothing is ever simply Yes or No. There's always a But...

predator and prey convene
in the grace of death

cool and rippling, waiting for
a water ballet

Hey Mlou checked out your Haikus. Great work! You havfe this amazing eye for beauty in every situation that never ceases to enthrall me. Just back from exams and all. Two tough months. I'm begining to look more like a zombie now who returns back alive (from death) after every period of examination.

Hey, LilacWine. How small and how big.... what a keen observation!!! Looking forward to see more of both of you. Have fun writing (need I even say it? )

Purty...glad you survived exam time! :D Do you get a summer vacation? Maybe we'll see some of your writing occasionally now, huh?

ya we do get summer vacs Mlou, but I spend most of it covering my syllabus and a part in writing. I've got four short stories and an incomplete fifth. All have been the products of summer vacs. :-D

geese make their stately passage
in ripples of light.

A clear northern lake
under an indigo sky,
geese ripple the calm.
