Haiku for me, Haiku for you

Black and yellow winged
monarch on the milkweed bloom,
beauty in being.

Like ghostly soldiers
looming through the snow-filled air
tall pines guard the land.

Avenue of palms
susserating in the wind
whisper of summer.

an angel in flight
the butterfly unfolds wings
as flower at rest

Blossom flaunts nectar.
Bright wings will ever answer
the eternal call.

Cold

White shawl of winter
covers the mountain's shoulder
with cold days and nights.

Scattered on the snow
leaves and pine branches wither
victims of the storm.

The winter's snow brings
a blanket of peace and rest
for hibernation

Great work Pen, Mlou and snowbird. Really liked the bit about 'mountain's shoulders', 'victims of the storm' and 'blanket of peace'. Have seen the snow only once, though.

Purple green sweet smells
Pleasant memory, childhood springs
Lost in the moment

True that about the rains Mlou. But all plants need a kiss from the sun every now and again, as well do most of us humans...

Yes but not QUITE as much as weve had here in New England this last week. Only twice in 22 years have I had water come in downstairs. This was one of the two. What a mess! That's what I get for saying something nice about the rain.

one twisted tree stands alone
defying darkness.

Or in the cry of the seagull
As he dives and skims off the sea,
In the ripples made on the sand by the waves,
Or the subtle shades of light and dark,
That finds its place in my wayward heart!

Hi, priyanthi...welcome to WordTrip. Thoughtful poem with nice images, even if it's not a haiku. Check back in this thread and you'll see that a haiku (usually about nature) runs in 3 lines, with syllables mostly 5-7-5. Try one, they're fun.
