HUNTER
Gunshot echoes.
Crows fall like stone
out of the weeping sky,
scattered and still.
nothing is ever simply Yes or No. There's always a But...

The black sky echoes
yesterday stars
streaming light into
our Now.
nothing is ever simply Yes or No. There's always a But...

LETTER ACROSS TIME

Your old corduroy jacket
still hangs on the hook.
I leave it there
and think of you with love.
nothing is ever simply Yes or No. There's always a But...

PAST LIVES

Speak to me of honor
love and kinship,
cast off by this generation
of fools.
nothing is ever simply Yes or No. There's always a But...

They've been posting the same word list for days! Finally...a new one.

Winds blow cold
upon the river banks
where dark water flows,
following old rhythms
to horizon's gate.
nothing is ever simply Yes or No. There's always a But...

YESTERDAYS (Actually it IS yesterday's! :) )
Looking back at
those radiant days
now fading but gently
touched by time,
I remember us....
together.

(today's)

My dream of flying
haunts me,
touching my heart
with hidden urgency for
something eternally lost.
nothing is ever simply Yes or No. There's always a But...

(not many words to choose from today)

DAWN
I stood in awe
as the sun's bald dome
was birthed and
became a perfect orb.
nothing is ever simply Yes or No. There's always a But...

Good because I liked that one too. Most of them are sort of "eh!" but best one can do with the list of the day.

SAVIOR
He shall laugh at Death,
Himself the victory
and God's gift to us
for all time.

Something lies in the high
blue places of cloud and sky...
a listening, a truth,
if we but seek it.
nothing is ever simply Yes or No. There's always a But...

Above these misty hills
white birds soar,
turning, dancing, in the soft
winds of morning.
nothing is ever simply Yes or No. There's always a But...

Cool enough. But I wanted the last word to be "mourning", just to throw it in a different direction.

I know, I know . . . ya gotta play it as it lies . . . still . . .

Interesting thought. And I often DO alter them before they go into my files. But on here I do whatcha said...play 'em as they lie. But actually that was when we had a whole bunch of dedicated poets trying the PIM daily and striving to get the best poem they could out of it. Hardly anyone doing them now. Hint, hint, Mudge! :-D

Very lacklustre word list today. Or maybe it's me!

Be faithful to your dream.
Never let it wither
nor the fire die.

Well... when you work with a list of words... that's what you have to work with. Leace it to me to spell out the obvious.

Same old list today. This must be about the 75th time for it. Why don't they just repeat a few of the OTHERS once in a while??

I'm still finding the word lists lacklustre. Maybe it's me!

Cradled in the warm dunes
we laughed at the biting sea wind
jealous of our love.

Maybe, but you got another good one out of it.

TORNADO
In the purple night's
long passage,
we heard the whirlwind,
felt its savage fingers
rending our flesh.
nothing is ever simply Yes or No. There's always a But...

Missed a few days because of that-same-list-again.
Yesterday's:

REGRET
In swift passage of hours
a still fall of tears
for every moment lost to us.

Today's

SEPTEMBER
A crisp blade of Autumn
comes cutting through
Summer's green noon,
taking possession of
the waning year.
nothing is ever simply Yes or No. There's always a But...

amazing visuals in 'SEPTEMBER', Mlou. Crisp blade of autumn- very good, indeed. :-D

Thanks, purty. That's from the word list on Poetry In Motion, of course. I will later revise before putting in my file, to something like...scything down the stalks of ripened days.

MOURNING
A ghost of tender innocence...
the lost girl that was...
still cries in the woman
ravaged by time.
nothing is ever simply Yes or No. There's always a But...
