So, I just realized that the only time that I can write something that's happy is in poetry; while my fiction writing is always dark. Just a revelation. 8)

Maybe for you it just takes more words to express the depths of your tortured soul, but pure joy can be summed up in just a word or two. Like "the grin of a sunflower" or "the laughter of old friends".

"the rustle of a payment check for a story"?
"The smell of fresh ink on an acceptance letter?"
"The dentist's voice saying No Work Needed?
Getting the day off because the system is down?
nothing is ever simply Yes or No. There's always a But...

I totally didn't mean to conjugate that up there. Whew.

But, anyway, I guess I've been on a poetry binge lately. And I guess some of you guys are liking it. That's good. Hopefully there will be more to come. Hopefully.

We have a poetry reading in my creative writing class tomorrow. So, those of you that have read my stuff, which one should I pick?

I picked up my first Vonnegut book today; Hocus Pocus. I am approximatly a page and a half through it as of now, and the whole napalm strike on Jesus made me laugh very hard. Thought you all should know. :-P

Wrote a story today. I've been getting inspired a lot by music, so you could say the soundtrack to my newest story, "Car Crashes", was the album Avec Laudenum by Stars Of The Lid. Very mellow soundscapes there. Worth checking out for writing music if that's anyone's game.

Also, I picked up Rick Moody's "The Diviners". Excellent read so far.

Started writing a story for creative writing, it's supposed to be a "crime" (although he said that this genre assignment was very ambiguous) story, and it's kind of like a stalker story. A dark comedy I think.

I read "An Intimate Conversation With Myself" tonight for my writing group's book party. There were a lot of people there and they liked it. I got it on video, I might put it up on youtube or something and then put a link on here.

Thanks.

I'm currently working on a longer story right now, and I'm hoping to also polish up one of my shorter pieces and get it published. Hoping to, being the key word. This next week, and the following week, they just might kill me.

Okay, finally got Word for my new laptop. There will most likely be some new writing up soon.

Above is the link to the video of me reading "An Intimate Conversation With Myself" at my writing group's book party.

Two weeks ago I wrote a story every day, this week I haven't written anything. I realized that I have a creative pool of writingness that I can tap into, but if I do it too much it dries up. I'll have to find out how to ration my finger dancing. 8)

AHHHHHHHHHH! Ever since I moved into my apartment, I've been able to write only sparingly. I seriously went on a month break without writing a thing. Then I had to kind of force a story out of me, which wasn't very good. I think I'm back on track now, I'm going to school and in the mornings I write before my classes. I hope I don't stop again. You think it'd be a question of will, but sometimes it feels like it's out of my hands.

And sometimes life just gets in the way of things. I have a friend who chided me for not posting new writing (on a public blog elsewhere) for awhile. When I looked I saw my last entry was March  . Has it been that long? It certainly didn't feel like it. His guilt trip has got me thinking again . . .

Yeah, I know what you mean. You just have to make yourself write everyday. Like you're brushing your teeth.

I'm writing a novel. :D

I've been working on getting a story published, I've sent it to at least 20 magazines so far, and I'll send it to more today. Hopefully something good will come out of it.

I'll send you happy thoughts and wishful thinking so you can get it accepted somewhere. In the mean time keep writing. That's an order. :)

Still writing short stories, still not writing as much as I should be. My old creative writing teacher gave me the first draft of his novel, I'm to read it and critique. HMMMMMMMMM.

It's ironic, I know. I'm trying not to edit it with grammar/language in mind...that just wouldn't seem right since he was the one who really helped me the most with that...
