Quietly Content

Moments come
with wishes to be younger
energy filled days
full of adventure
but mostly
I stay quietly content.

Sometimes I long
for romantic evenings
gestures of love
sweet nothings whispered
but mostly
I remain quietly content.

Yet i remember my yesterdays
the restless searching for self
feeling lost, uncertain
running from the mirror
now simply
I live quietly content.

needs work but i like the premise... this is my poetry junkyard after all. i hope that doesn't mean my posts go here to die.

And there is much to be said for quiet contentment. Lovely, ms.

My heart beats in poetry. I think in rhythm and dream in rhyme.

Give me a crit! I can take it!

I like the premise, too. That whole argument of quickly dying flames or long burning embers.

lies
butcher of hearts,
slicing with your words,
tossing pieces aside
your unforgiving anger
steals my breath.

ties that bind

were we free to love
i would run, breathless,
finding haven in your arms,
yet ties that bind
conspire, separating you
from me,
leaving only dreams.

You spilled the beans first...

... what does that really mean, anyway? How many times have any of us really spilled beans?

emptiness

voices fill this room
yet i stand alone,
unseen.
my vision of who i am
not worthy of attention.

break up

go ahead
break my heart,
i will still carry pieces of you
inside, where you once touched my soul.

newborn morning

though clouds may bury the sun,
morning dawns in hope,
rain fills blade and bud with life
bird chirrup in welcome.

kiss me, then kiss again,
enfold me with your heat,
let passion play like fire's flame
i lie in your arms, complete.

hmmm.... see this is what happens when i try to rhyme. it sounds silly and trite.

Kiss me and kiss me and kiss me
Feel passion's immutable heat
Enfold me in fiery caresses
I lie in your arms, complete.

Part of it is the rhythm. Part of it is thesaurus.

be that as it may...

appearing in my
fragmented dreams,
(your smile, your touch)
you linger teasingly
taunting me,
disappearing completely
confronted by daylight.

fade
need i beg,
for a single touch,
a caress of your hand
a kiss from your lips;
need i plead,
for affectionate looks
a special smile
a warm embrace;
or shall i instead
just fade away.

June 4 poem..

I'd like line 3 as line 1 and without ()

Your smile, your touch,
appearing in my
fragmented dreams..
they linger
teasing, taunting...
vanishing when
confronted by daylight.
nothing is ever simply Yes or No. There's always a But...
