I'm pooped.
It's not the job itself yet since I sit in the office doing work on the backend right now. It's the commuting into New York (the office is in SoHo).

Yeah, but leaving Jersey for New York is like passing over the hamburger for chateaubriand. I know, I live in Jersey so I should keep my mouth shut.

Commuting is definitely one of those things that will make me NOT take a job... although, in your case, it may be that the job outweighs any complaints about the commute.

I suppose that would be true for me as well if I found something I loved that much... but right now I'm just hanging on for dear life and hoping nothing goes wrong in the industry where I'm putting my 40 hours. I think I'll be okay since it's medical and industrial... but it also deals with medicare and medicaid on the medical side and you never know what horrendous decisions will be made in those two bureaucratic agencies.

But my commute is 3 miles.

My commute is only like 15 miles, believe it or not. lol
It's just that I'm commuting into NYC. I get on the train here, then I have to switch to another train so I can grab the line that goes into NYC (my line goes to Hoboken). And then I have to pick up the subway to SoHo. And there is hardly ever a seat between NYC and Secaucus. Ugh.

So who remembers this from over four years ago from this thread?

an ode to laundry

growing pile of clothes
never shrinking
shrieks for washing
a lifetime spent
dragging the pile
up and down stairs
wash, dry, fold
only for the pile
to grow again
how i wish
for a laundry service

So we're about a month away from launching the Web site and I feel like I'm doing busy work at this point. I'm suffering from itchy reporter syndrome because I'll be out there and see tons of stories that should be reported and done and don't have a way to do it at this point. *sigh*

That's not what my blog is for.

Anyway, I'm tired. Really tired. I'm working tons and tons of hours. Feeling like I'm burning out already. *sigh*

We're allegedly launching on Jan. 12. Have I mentioned I'm tired? Yet I'm eager and just want to get this over and done with!

I got a Christmas card today from one of my writer friends.
Except it's not a Christmas card. It's a Christmas short story she wrote.

Where do you find the time? Kind of fun teaching though, isn't it? Once in a while, I mean.

Soooooooooo. . .We launched the Web site at long last. A few weeks later than originall anticipated and it was a little bumpy to get the thing unveiled. But we're live and it's good to be live. Granted there's more pressure now!

And class is going well with my students. A lot of them have a ton of potential. Others, well, they need a bit more work. We'll get there tho. I hope. :)

Meh. Not really sure how I feel about what I just wrote:

Windswept

You blew into my life
Like a summer breeze
Kissing me on the cheek
Lifting my spirits
Twirling me in the air
My feet never touched the ground.
Then your front changed,
Blowing harder, like a perfect storm.
I twisted and turned in your wake,
Churning my stomach,
A dizzy upside down spin.
Never saw the clouds building,
Didn’t see the dark horizon
Or the flashes in the distance.
I need shelter,
But I’m just swept away.

Most of it I like, but not the two first lines; sounds redundant, and yet contradictive. Not sure how strong this "breeze" is right from the start.

I like the concept of the changing front, though. Just needs some tweaking, I think.
