How about adding a few ingredients and creating some bricks to build a castle. :-P

Wet sand? Hmmmmm...Well, footprints in the sand is way overdone but you'll come up with something. How about sandbagging someone? :-D

Hmmm... or how about the old "bricks around the feet and tossing into the lake" thing.

I'm not sure if being a princess is all it's cut out to be X...

well, it's mostly cuz ive been listening a lot of the new red hot chili peppers cd lately, and my favorite song on it is "wet sand."
and a couple lines are:
"you dont form in the wet sand
you dont form at all
but I do"

so the image has kind of stuck with me. i might integrate it into my short story.

Well, now I wonder....You know about making snow angels? (I sold a poem about that somewhere. Grit, I think.) So how about sand angels?

BUT my prof put me in touch with a guy regarding a job i really want in Philly. I applied via the regular way, and hadn't heard anything. last night reminded me why i hate being a reporter sometimes.

i had to cover a meeting with four items on the agenda. easy night, right? HA! one of them I knew was going to be highly controversial. one other i knew a lot of people would probably speak. and another I heard there COULD be some crap spewed. all of the above happened. the meeting started at 8 p.m. and was over at 12:30 a.m. I got home at 1 a.m. But I didnt get to go to bed! I had to update the Web site and write at least one story. I didn't get to bed until after 2 a.m. Needless to say I was exhausted at that point.

Participate? Maybe. Like one would participate in Talk Radio: mostly, you sit and get cheezed off, and you really WANT to say something, but you know it would only make things worse . . .

Totally understand. I've worked in academia. Academia is not the real world, and one can appear quite the genius by remembering this, and stating it from time to time . . .

my advisor/favorite prof goes nuts because he didnt grow his career in the world of academia like the other people in the department. instead he worked for a long time in the real world before entering academia. and he gets blown away by how the people act in the department. of course, i hear it all. haha

I've never been a believer much in the whole "Those who can, do; those who can't, teach" philosophy, but hang out a little while in academia, and you can sure tell where the idea comes from.
