Mlou's News

Postby Mlou » Tue Mar 30, 2004 12:42 pm

Hi everyone!
Entered a writing contest a while ago for the Heritage Foundation's Legacies Writing Contest. Just had an invitation to a luncheon and prize awarding ceremonies next week. She said it was very important that I be there. So I'm taking it to mean I won one of the 5 awards.
Either that or they need warm bodies to fill the room.
So wish me luck!

Congratulations Mlou! Do we get to see the submission after you win? Or is that a violation of some rule?

Sure, if my little typing fingers will type that much online. Too bad there isn't a way of tranferring it en masse to the site.
But we better wait and see if I'm a warm body or a winner!! :0)

If the story is already on your computer, just open it up, highlight all the text by pushing Ctrl-A, then right click and COPY. Then close the story, pull up WT and go to PostReply. In the narrative box, right click again and "Paste". The story will be transferred.

Even if you don't receive an award (yeah, right) I'd like to read it.

Mlou that's FANTASTIC! I'm so happy for you! You must be very proud. I agree with Hyker, you must post your entry here, I'd love to read a blue ribbon story. What was the category you won/think you won in?

Maybe I will if it's a winner.

It was in "humorous or sentimental memory".

PLEASE let me read it. Because thats what I write. I could use a different perspective other than Bill Bryson, Pat McManus...etc

Hey, just an observation, but shouldn't this be in the Writer's Blogs? I was looking for it there and couldn't find it.

It probably should but I wouldn't know how to put it in there. Anyway it wasn't supposed to be an ongoing blog, just a bit of news I was happy about.

Mlou, congrats! You must be dancing on air.

I remember my first contest "win." It was only an honorable mention, but the letter they sent was the best part. They said they didn't normally give cash awards to HMs, but they felt my entry deserved special recognition.

Tells us everything about the ceremony. Sounds like fun.

Hyker thought this was a good title for a blog so maybe I will keep it. :D
