Summary of this Book...

A small group of young boys Named Will, Henry and Jean Paul who are on search for a twolong forgotten concepts. Free will, and Freedom.

A long time ago the Earth was taken over and decemated by an alien race known only as the Tripods. The aliens travel in large domed vehicles on top of three legs. They now rule the populace by a ceremony called "capping" whereby a human's head is shaved and a thin metal band is placed on the head. Thus making him docile and easy to control.

This is done as the boys reach the end of puberty and it is almost Will's time to be capped. But he learns from a man posing as a vagrant with mental problems that there are free men in a place known as The White Mountains.

Follow them as they go on a grand adventure while dodging other Tripods and fighting each other on the way

I especially liked...

How the character found things tht we know all about. I.E. watches and trains and grenades. In the story they find some things buried in a old ghost town. Reading about what they find is like seeing it for the first time.

When I finished reading this Book I wanted to...

Find the next book in the series.

This Book made me feel...

Like I was back in 6th grade. It was read to me by a teachers aid and I had a huge crush on her. It is still one of my favorite books.

The author of this Book...

John Christopher has recently written a prequel to the series stating how the tripods got to power. I doubt that if it was real we would not go without a HUGE fight.

I recommend this Book because...

If you like sci-fi and adventure set to a new twist, then this is your book
