Creativity and Writing Software
In the past I know there were some folks out there that were asking about software targeted specially at writers and I found something that might be of some service to some budding writers. I looked to see if this same topic was else-where but could not locate it, so me being lazy, I'll just throw my findings out here in my own topic. I'm stuck out here in San Diego for the summer and since I've been here I decided to take in a comic convention that took place at the SD convention center. One of the displays was for a company called “Write Brothers” and they sell software that is for writers, so I thought I'd share the website with all those at Wordtrip. This is it http://store.write-bros.com I might add that I don't know anything about Write Brothers nor have ever seen their software nor had the time to speak with them at the convention so if the software is over pricedand/or useless I take no responsibility! But I thought I should share the website as somebody out there might find it useful. So good luck and better writings!

I think they advertise in Writer's Digest but I'm not positive.

Thanks Mlou, I'll see if I can find a poem laying around here somewhere....

I actually have a pretty useful program called WriteItNow 3. Granted it won't write your story for you, but I belive it is useful for keeping track of people, places and events. It is also pretty inexpensive.

I tried their demo before and it wasn't a bad bit of software... if they update the mac version I may try it out again. (I'm by nature very cheap and tend to work in free/included software).

I got their Movie Magic Screenwriter as an xmas gift one year. If you're working on a screenplay it's absolutely fantastic. You don't have to worry about formating anything. Makes the writing part of it so simple and easy. I think there's a round about way to use it for fiction but I haven't tried to do that.
Is this my reality or yours?
I've ordered Wizards4Word from www.MasterFreelancer.com and It should be here in a few days. It's suppose to format articles, shortstories, novels, ets., to industry standards plus has a plot wizard, character wizard and many more wizards to help you get whatever you are writing to the publisher. Check it out. They are running sales now on all types of software for writers...hope this helps someone.

Mac users might want to take a look at CopyWrite. It was highly praised on Nanowrimo a year or two ago, but at that time I didn't have the system upgrade that would let it run. Just started using the demo and like it very much. No features are disabled on the demo, but you can't have more than five documents per project. Only $30.00 to register it, which I'm going to do as soon as the budget loosens up a bit.
It's small, stable, and concentrates on writing rather than formatting. Has a note pane--each document has its own note pane, and there's one for the whole project. Version tracking--yaayyy!

This has come up twice now, and I'm just going to link to the old thread as well as mention that there is a free novel software available for PCs at
http://spacejock.com/yWriter.html
There's a free one for Mac that's still in development too.

http://www.wordtrip.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=3546 is the old thread on the subject... I just PMd Anblick about how he made out on one of the software packages he mentions trying in the old thread.

Found another free Mac one... really great idea actually
http://www.hogbaysoftware.com/product/writeroom
all it is is a VERY simple text editor barely more than a typewriter but when you start it everything else goes blank so you can't be distracted by anything else while you're writing.

I've used this a few times now and really like it. It lets me write in bed without the monitor being too bright and waking up the wife and baby AND it keeps me from doing anything else while I'm writing. It even uses the built in Mac dictionary for spell check while you go, but only puts a subtle red line under the words that aren't right so you can change them if you like, but it's easy to ignore them.

Bringing up more Mac software for writing. Mariner Software is "a name" in the mac community, though I've never tried their stuff. Today only their Story Mill software is on 50% off at www.maczot.com.

I use my laptop WITHOUT an Internet connection for writing and I will preserve it like that. When I need some information, I come to this, my other CPU, and almost always find what I am looking for.
I'm afraid I won't be writing much for a few days, since I have two jobs, children and a home to take care of, among other things.
These are not excuses, just the way I planned my life some years ago, but, given that some years from now I will have some stuff written, the sooner I start the better result I will get.
I have been making some experiments, which I like a lot, which included interacting with people who are very different from me. What did I find out? Well, to begin with, I am not easy-going or tolerant at all, which I suspected and complicates interaction.
Anyway, the best software ever is our mind, people! Only our mind.
Damn! I have to find a way to attract people... As a honeypot, I suck.
But I like you! (Now this sounds phony
