New person who wants to say Hello!

Postby gnomenapper » Sat May 03, 2008 12:25 am

Hello all!

I'm brand spanking new and thought I should introduce myself a bit. I love reading other's work, and look forward to being able to contribute in various parts of the forums.

Hmm... not sure what to say. I've been writing since I was forced to make little picture books in early elementary- but have always been super private about it. I'd like to think I've evolved past the hand printed stories on pieces of paper strung together with little bits of ribbon- but we'll see. I don't want to admit how many years ago that was by the way...

I finally found myself able to devote large amounts of time to my passion, and realised if I was going to get anywhere- I would have to come out of my shell a bit. So here I am.

I am very happy to be a part of these boards- thank-you for having me!

Hi Gnome - welcome to the boards. Feel free to poke around and join in any of the threads. What sorts of things to you particularly like reading and writing?

Happy wordtripping.

I think it's easier to narrow it down by what *doesn't* interest me. Anything to do with space, or military (minus ancient history) leaves me looking for something else to pass the time.
I just finished a YA Fiction novel, working on the second.. In between I write short stories, ranty observations of society, and generally anything that enters my mind. I have a regular fiction novel started, but it's been hanging on the back burner for awhile.

Thank-you for all the warm greetings everyone! <3
I may not jump right in until I check some of the older threads a bit.

Welcome My Dear!

I would advise, dabbling with the Prompt threads like What if Wednesday or Fast fiction Friday...just because you find one that is older, doesn' t mean it's closed...if the prompt sounds good to you post a story.

As for ranting..we do that in our personal blogs :D

And you can discuss your "blocks" with the novel in the writing forums or in your own writing blog....there you can ask advice, seek inspiration or just blow off steam

Whatever you find to get you started, welcome aboard! Jump right in the water is fine!

Brand spanking new eh? I thought doctors didn't do that any more.

I'll second Hiss's suggestion of trying the challenges. Check out the Short Story, Picture Perfect and Poetry ones as well. You might not write poetry but stretch yourself a little and try something new. You'll never look at the language the same way again.
Is this my reality or yours?
