The dreaded first post. ::makes drumroll sounds::
Er, yeah. Hi. I had this site URL written down from I don't remember where and I'm all about talking word-stuff. I work at a bookstore and freelance write the rest of the time. I'm obsessed. Slightly.
Some random book titles on my shelf: Desolation Angels, The Ground Beneath Her Feet, Beauty and Sadness, Trainspotting, Art Objects, Anatomy of Anorexia, Burning Girl.
Some random titles of things I've written: Easy Beauty, Mad Sky, A Moon without a Tear, Resist, Gods on H, Graffiti.
So yeah. Here I am.

Welcome, junkstory...after that first post, it only gets easier! Glad you're joining us...it really is a great place for writers (and for those of us wannabe's who have yet to get up enough nerve to actually submit something and really qualify for the title... )

Have fun here...lots to do! :-D

Hi, Holly...hope some of those things you've written are poems you can share with us. We have lots of poetry challenges going on. Hope you'll try some. And welcome!

Hi, JS . . . welcome to the boards.

Tell us a little about yourself: what you like to write, what you're working on now, that sort of thing. Above all, happy wordtripping.

Okay, here goes...
I write whatever I feel like writing. However my muse manifests itself. It usually comes out in short spurts of fiction I call 'blobs' that aren't really plot-driven, but I've written longer short stories, poems, a novel, articles, essays, and a comic book.
I just finished up a series of articles for Clear magazine and I'm working on submitting a few to other lifestyle publications [Flaunt, City, etc]. Working on my second novel, Footsteps in the Rain. Always writing poetry.
Favourite authors are Kaori Yuki, Poppy Z Brite, Ryu Murakami, Neil Gaiman, Francesca Lia Block, William Faulkner, CLAMP, JD Salinger, Homer, Yukio Mishima, Bret Easton Ellis, Jim Grimsley, Franz Kafka.

Hi junkstory... glad to have you on Wordtrip!

Tell me... what do you think of the world of freelance writing. I'm about to dive into it and I'm curious what others think!

:-k
I like it. My freelancing is all about nonfiction articles, though, and truth be told I like working on fiction more. So I'd say I freelance for the income and compose fiction/poetry for the fun and occasional publication. :D
