Greetings from a newbie

Postby silver moone » Sat Jul 09, 2005 9:16 am

Hello Everyone I am Sylvia. I am an aspiring writer currently working on a novel and screenplay. I love reading and writing almost all genres. Some of my favorite writers are Stephen King, Alice Hoffman, Nathaniel Hawthorne, Sheridan Le Fanu and J.K. Rowling (sure harry potter is suppose to be for kids but she's a damn good writer with a fantastic imagination) Other than reading and writing I also love film. I am a big fan of Tim Burton and a horror movie buff. I also love nature and animals and am the proud "momma" of three lovely cats -Maggie May, Silverbelle, and Sirius.

I look foreward to getting to know other people who are wrestling with the blessings/curses of the writer's life. :D

Welcome to the forum. i'm also a cat owner of two bundles of joy (at times). Sometimes I think they own me instead. What genre do you write in?

Hey Thanks for the warm welcome!! :) I write all sorts of genres but the novel I am currently working on is sort of hard to categorize at least in my mind it involves a love triangle but goes deeper (at least I hope) than the average romance story. It is intended to be closer to The Scarlet Letter than Danielle Steele and the like.
The screenplay I am working on a suspense thriller.
But I also write a lot of "horror" stuff ,ainly vampires.
Like I said previously I dabble in all sorts of genres.I'm eclectic.

I hope you enjoy the many things we have to offer here. Have fun!

Isn't it interesting to see how many writers are also cat owners? I have a cat, Amber and a dog, Toby. The cat has recently learned how to use the bathroom in the sink. I'm still laughing about that one, and I'm not sure what to think, at least it's not in the kitchen sink.

Welcome! Sounds like an interesting start, your novel. I have cats too, although I think they claim my kids more than me. We have 5 of them, so we are loaded up for the next 10 years... argh!

Uh... cats make me wheeze... so I hate them.

Okay cat lovers. I have eleven. Yep, eleven. Just a word of wisdom. When you find a poor stray kitten in the parking lot and decide to give it a good home. . . don't.

Their names
1) Kallisti
2) Cremepuff (Puff Daddy)
3) Twinkee
4) Tomax
5) Xamot
6) Flemming
7) Ghost
8) Wormie
9) Holstein
10) Legion
11) Not Another F#$@%* Cat (Nafak)
Only by being vague does one know that they are correct.

Welcome to the site Silver Moone! Have fun on the boards.
I love cats, but when I was little I had some bad experiences. ( lung collapses, running away, etc.)

I have one dog now and she's my best friend.

A screenplay, eh? I want to write a screenplay at some point if I find time between school studies. :(
