Short poems:

breath
it sighs swirling
leaves in dance
teasing the earth
in nature tangos.

three things
passion, how once it flowed
a waterfall through my blood
his lips speaking those words
caressing my heart and
laughter healing the scars
of battle weary lives.

Depression

my spirit would soar
if the scissors slipped
marking my skin scarlet
swapping this life
for the next.

POETRY CHALLENGE - 08.11.09

Perhaps it's time for a new few challenges... though the board has been dead lately. 1. Try a Tanka: A Japanese poem of five lines, the first and third composed of five syllables and the other seven. 2. Use these "S" words in a poem: scarlet, scissors, swap, soar, slip 3. Sports - love 'em? hate 'em...

Reluctance

listen
tho i am silent
tho tears don't fall,
your reluctance to engage
my soul
leaves me vacant.

whoopsie... looks like you meant "conversations" and not "conservations" - but i could be wrong. certainly wouldn't be the first time. one more thing - your first stanza, line 4... seems a bit off - like it's missing words? One where after I say something like, "Oh no sweetie you don't look a day ov...

Re: Breathing (Crits, please)

okay... i have a few cents to offer. take them or leave them. :) personally i prefer not to have a poem start with "I" - it seems self-indulgent. try this simply removing the first line and some of the punctuation: "Melting into the bed I realize now it is colder without you." then the next three st...

A.M. alarm sounds 30 minutes after i wake, arm draped across the bed's edge licked and pawed he wants attention, wants to go O-U-T i sigh, stretch, and rise s.l.o.w.l.y. (as he jumps and dances whining hurry, hurry) wishing in vain for another minute with my pillow. :D darn that cute doggie anyway!

obsolete

gentle tho the day moves on
giving over to eve
yet i become obsolete
with the setting sun
time cares not that
unwritten poetry remains
tantalizingly close to birth
simply inhales dark,
exhales stars.
