Schwaa,
Welcome back. I most definitely remember you for you helped me a lot with commenting on my writing. So are you still into poetry or have you been trying out some new writing as of late?

As a writer I have my moments where the world tilts the wrong direction and my papers fall to the ground in a heap. But then I have those days where the papers stay in the same place on the desk, waiting to be written on. Writing is a passion of mine, but recently I have sacrificed my writing becaus...

We just had one put by the local high school and now that is all anyone ever eats. It is actually quite repulsive because kids just leave the pizza sitting out and it starts to smell.

Well I was more or less surprised. See I don't fit in much and because my writing is well unique I don't get a lot of support from my peers, so when they all did that I felt relieved that they recognized this is my art- my world and they did not spit on it.

Well I read the The Way I Perceive Myself first and the audience was quiet as they could be while I read the piece, but once I finished everyone started screaming and chanting my name. It was quite amazing and something I would have never expected.

I once again have come to a place in my writing where I am having a hard time accepting what I have produced. Some things I am confident I have done my job as a writer until I have someone else critique the writing. It could be the fact that I am sick and tired of writing these stupid I AM A WONDERF...

As to your first point the two lines are about accepting your identity as a slave, but at the same time you are keeping your head raised high and are confident with yourself as a person. You are not letting your head fall or focus soley on your feet. Well this is a great question regarding the secon...

No fiona I really like your interpretation. I found it quite enlightening in fact. Just to see my work inspired another to a certain extent feels nice and I cannot disagree with that.

No, I do not see my identity as a slave. I wrote this poem after I had read A Day in the Life of a Slave Girl by Harriet Jacobs. I appreciate the comments though-glad you all enjoyed it.

It is a Frankenstein poem because the writer takes clippings from other famous works to create their own. It was a project for creative writing.

For example this includes works from Eliot to Tupac to Whitman.

Faith

God made me black,
Midnight Black
In a time of oppression
I pray for the river of prejudice to end.
Yet, I know to be a slave,
Is my identity.
I must keep my head
Higher than my feet.

Well I have recently discovered the type of writing that I am proud came out of my head. It all began when my philosophy teacher assigned a paper on What is the Good Life? We were told to incorporate the philosophies of Buddha, Confucius, Aristotle, Plato, and Socrates, but I could not think of a pr...

Close-Minded by Choice

An eclipse in my mind
Denies Reality
Darkening
Vanquishing
An eclipse of my mind
Steals light
Erasing
Harming
But this eclipse in my mind
Is naturally temporary
For I control my universe
Choosing to rid
My mind of an eclipse

okay well I have a really cool prose poem that I want to submit, but it does not exactly follow the rules, so I am assuming it would be better not to enter it.
