Re: NEW FF - There was a crow on the fence today, carrying eye glasses in his beak

Here we go, 1,054 words ripped off in 47 minutes. Comments welcome, but no answers are guaranteed. The Crows Stole My Heart The crows were shooting over the Columbia like black bullets, wheeling and sawing over the water in their spring mating dance. They’d find mates. I’d lost mine to a heart attac...

Re: Welcome to Wordtrip!

Great going, Jill! And thanks to Charles too. I've been missing this place to hang out, put up some tentative stories, gaggle with my groupies. Hey, I remember once I even won a T shirt with the WT logo, and I still wear it!

Guess this is a dead site, Jill. Maybe you shouldn't waste your time.

Found a new group on FB--Casual Fridays. Invitational (from Margaret Sefton), but I found many of my incestuous group of writers there. You can post and comment, as desired.

Hey, JB, this is a so-called "closed group." But you can come on in with a sincere desire to do some prompts. Jill is the prompter and I'm the only one writing.

Funny that this piece of creative non-fiction was subbed to and rejected by .kv.r.y. , then sent to Chicken Soup and a new (to me) inspirational pub called Guideposts. Best bet would be Guideposts, and a friend there said she looked at it and would bring it to the attention of the Editor. Doesn't hu...

Hey, Jill, notice that WT no longer sends a note to your in box that there's been a reply to a thread you're following? Just caught up with your comment, gal. The Western needed an angle (Oklahoma land grab) and a sub-theme (Cherokee-white conflict), melded with a coming-of-age character (kill the b...

I am inspired, and writing, and find ideas everywhere I turn. Sorry, WT, I miss you, but life and work goes on. A check just arrived from Over My Dead Body!, a story's waiting at Writers Haven till their site is Google-ready, Bill Olver at Big Pulp asked me to do a Western (I did, my first). and “Pr...

Agreed, Jill. FB sucks for writers wanting to post rough drafts, receive crits, and cheer others on. FFF works for me, but is anyone else using your prompts to their advantage?

You're right, Peng, that this is home, a quiet corner to bounce things around. I had a thought after reading "Songs of Willow Frost," so I Facebooked a message to Jamie Ford. he came right back with an answer. WT was--is--that kind of place. As for writer's block, Jill, I can't relate to it. I can't...

This is fact, not fiction. And I've adapted the "moving curtains" theme. The Things She Left Behind Judy complained uncharacteristically of being tired and in pain, and half an hour later she was gone. The months since then have been long and difficult, costly in terms of burial arrangements and me...

I'm just discovering this prompt and think I have a story ready to write. When/if finished I'll plunk it down at Facebook's Fast Fiction Friday. Wordtrip is a ghost town. Gives me the willies!

Just checking in and saw this, Delaney. Nice beginning to your story. Will it be a novel?

I've been missing the old WT crowd since it lapsed and I've gone to
Facebook as Walter Giersbach. Stay in touch for old times' sake.

Here's a wild shot in the dark, since there've been 10,000 views of this page and no one haunting any nrew topics: I'm writing a short (500-1000-word) non-fiction piece on the value of prompts, where the creative epiphany comes fom, are they worthwile idea generators, do they prevent writer's block?...

Back in the Saddle Again

Nice to see some old friends here--some successes, some challenges, sort of like the wicked winter we had in the Northeast U.S. I've gravitated to Facebook, but don't waste time with Twitter and the other media. Always feel guilty when I'm not writing. Jillstar's Fast Fiction Friday prompts paid off...

Take a look at Wapshott Chronicles antho, "Erotique." "Oysters and Chocolate" just suspended itselfm unfortunately. Oh, more specifically, go to http://wapshottpress.com/about-the-wapshott-press/fiction-journals/erotique-issn-1647-5330/. I think I helped get Ms. Myerson started again on the romance/...
