Looks like it went up this morning: http://www.yearwithoutdisney.com/2010/0 ... marketing/ It was a fun thing to think about/write... and I'll possibly do a couple more to respond/expand.

Tomorrow I've got a guest-blog post at http://www.yearwithoutdisney.com .... Having me write on YearWithoutDisney is sort of like having Ron Jeremy teaching your abstinence only sex-ed, and yet I'm doing it :D I'm not DOING a year without Disney, but I'm talking about art and marketing on the blog o...

Nothing new to announce

Because it bothers some people that we haven't had anything new to announce in some time, and that means we have an old announcement as our most recent, this announcement is simply to point out that we're not yet dead, we just haven't anything new to announce at this time. Writing goes on, or doesn'...

Dr Who (on being an artist)

I've no idea if anybody else around here has been watching the new Dr Who series, but I recently re-watched the episode from a few weeks ago where The Doctor and Amy go visit Vincent Van Gogh. There is a brilliance to the last 5-10 minutes of that episode (which I won't spoil here, but it may get sp...

The writing I'm not doing: I started NaNoWriMo and ended up letting it die a slow painful death due to illness and "stuff"... the story is still in files somewhere, waiting to be picked up. Almost all blogging has stopped. I was writing essays for a while, but neither e-mail or blogging ones are bei...

Glad to see some things working out for ya Del, hope they keep it up. I think my current metaphor for my job was riffing on your blog title here.... "Sometimes this job is like spinning plates, other days it's more like juggling.... juggling large balls of elephant dung. I miss the plates, and I wis...

Alas, his wife wasn't on this leg of the tour, but I got to meet her kid sister who goes to UGA. Jamie, his Sister in law, and her friend and I all went out for milkshakes after the event... two dads and two college girls (wow I felt old). I then gave Jamie a ride back to the posh hotel the publishe...

Jamie happens to be on tour (again), and I believe he'll be here in Atlanta in mid November (hopefully the publisher will leave him enough free time in the day for me to take him out for lunch or something). Check out his blog for tour info (as he's all over the country/planet).

Very buddha of the both of you. There is no then, only now, so make the most of the now you have. *incidentally... I initially read Del's last paragraph with "the" and "wrong" switched in order... and it made the sentence read MUCH differently (so I re-read it to make sure I hadn't done what I did.....

Not sure what comment to make on the drama that is your life, but wanted to make sure you knew somebody was reading and thinking of you. Can imagine how difficult the conversation was with Mark, well, probably CAN'T imagine actually. Hope you survive the night with guests.

John Green on publishing and advances

John Green, the author of three really great YA novels (well, they're three really great novels that happen to fall in the YA category), has an interesting piece up on his blog about advances, royalties, and the publishing industry. Good read. http://sparksflyup.com/2009/06/really-long-boring-post-a...
