Taking Hold Today snow is dripping from house eaves and their curtain of icicles has melted under golden fingers of sun. The bird that I keep on that green-leafed branch in my heart, has begun singing and wherever I turn the absence of winter's cold grasp is evident. I feel like floating paper boats...

Mae and Funky...I missed your poems when you posted! Mae...I really like yours! I think it fall of a bit with "a round at the bar" ..not as elegant as the rest of the poem. Som lovely lyrical bittersweet lines there. Funky..nice characterization...tea-boiled hair is descriptive indeed, also the beer...

This is great, OP! The agonies and the ecstasies of hight school could sometimes scar for life, and yet they were a passing phase you can look back on almost in
disbelief. ... This poem really expresses the joy there is in finding "the right one".

I like your take on poets...and yes, I've been seeing a lot of profanity laden "poems" lately. WHY do thing think it's so cool? It adds nothing and shows a lack of imagination. Ah, well...

I know, Lilac, and where there is life and action, it's worth one's time and effort. The other site is alive and sadly, this appears moribund and time is valuable to us all.

TUESDAY POETRY CHALLENGE - 10-26-10

Hi, poets! This will be my last posting of a challenge here, unless some response becomes evident. With no feedback, or poetry-muscle flexing, there remains little sense in continuing. (Am I discouraged? Yes...) 1. In keeping with the above, let's have a poem entitled (or on the subject of) "Where H...

Well, quite a contradiction between statement and truth here! :) If you were really anti, you wouldn't be writing it so well...Very long write, so I'm glad you drew a deep breath before the shout at the end. Very well accomplished.
And how are things going for you these days?? :D

TUESDAY POETRY CHALLENGE...9-21-10

A list of words from which to write a poem of your choice of style... memoir, pastel, counted, lyric, sta...
