My New Blog

Well it's not really new (I've been posting there since 2010) but it's new since the last time I was here. :D I'd love it if you stop by and take a look! Thanks!

Re: May 2016 - 3 Flash to 1 Short Challenge

This could be interesting. I'm game - May is a relatively quiet month for me and my husband (read- no football!) :-D so I should have the time and energy to do this.

Re: WordTrip Revival

I'm so glad that Wordtrip has been resurrected! It's been eight years since I was active here and nearly six years ago, I created a new blog. It's still primarily creative writing, though recently my posts have centered on photography, and I'm trying a personal challenge to write at least 15 minutes...

Well I would probably change "upon" to "within" in the first line. I'm not sure about the second line myself. If you don't mind my saying so, it seems to be the weakest overall. I would probably change it to "seeking freedom" but that throws off the rhyme scheme so I'm not sure how to change it. If ...

Thanks, I'm already on Facebook - I'm the one in the football jersey and the foam finger tricorner hat:) Yeah Bill Nighy is a great actor. First saw him in Blow Dry and then Love Actually, which is where the quote came from. I'm just working on "exhausted she let her head slump" and hopefully someda...

Wow, I almost hoped he killed her at first. But then as I read and realized she had a good heart despite her lack of brains, I wanted her to find the treasure. Hopefully somewhere beyond this story she does. Thanks for sharing it with us:)

The trail ahead of me looked exactly the same as what lay behind me. It was narrow and muddy, covered over with a bower of evergreen trees which scented the air with the coming of winter. The only difference between forward and back was that back was where my horse had died the day before. The poor ...

My favorite line: Smiles could be infectious, just like yawns and sneezes. I don't know what particularly made me smile, but I love this line, Timber. Cute take on the prompt, not the usual one you'd expect for something like this....

Oops! That should have read that I've been working with my husband on a treatment for a political thriller. I've been trying to figure it out because the way I have it now, it could be two completely different short stories, and integrating both ideas into one novella has been difficult. On a differ...

Wow, it's been 9 months since I last wrote??? What is wrong with me? Well a lot has happened in 9 months. Last September my niece Eliza headed off to kindergarten, which made me happy for her and wistful at the same time. She is doing well and just loves school, like her brother, and she always make...

Your poem is lovely. It's been a gorgeous day here and it captures my feelings on spring exactly. I promise I'll try to be back soon. I'm working on a blog at http://www.jenniesisler.wordpress.com if you'd like to take a look, a creative writing blog. Gotta get a few more things posted though :-D

Finally back writing after a while

Ok I didn't use ALL the words, but I tried :D The first line is a line I've wanted to use in a poem for a while now, so here it is. Colony Trees are reluctant nudists, their Gnarled branch-fists grasping At golden-leaf mutinies, Clutching paper curtains soon loosened by Disrobing winds. Ok s...

I can't believe that it's been so long since I last posted, but still being without a computer makes it hard to find time to do so. Let's see...since last time, we found out our fourth ivf cycle didn't work. Needless to say we were devestated but we've got an appointment at the hospital to talk with...

Well another week in my life has started...it's dreary and grey here today, which kind of fits my mood. Spring practice starts tomorrow for the football team, and I'm glad that the early morning workouts are over so Bill doesn't have to get up at the crack of dawn to film them, but still, I can't be...

Well it's been a few days since I last blogged, and since then, I've actually had a few things to talk about:) First of all, my in vitro docs are going to try assisted hatching with our next cycle. Basically each embryo has a shell and after fertilization, the shell protects it while it travels the ...

Hey JT. The rough draft is in a state of limbo because our computer at home has bitten the proverbial big one (what that one is, I don't know, but whatever it is, my computer bit it, hard!) so I haven't had time to finish typing it. I'm sure that once we get our new computer, I'll start making many ...

Wow, it's been almost a year since I posted last. That is dreadful! But 2009 was mostly a dreadful year. After I posted last, Bill and I went through 2 unsuccessful in vitro procedures. After having gone through it twice in a row, I needed some down time and we decided to wait until the fall to try ...

You almost make me feel like spiders are beautiful....*almost* Seriously though, the image at the beginning is very strong. I can picture it perfectly and like the philosophical turn it takes at the end.

Mae, this reminds me of Garrison Keillor for some reason. Especially the theme song to Prairie Home Companion. (yep, I'm an NPR geek!). My only crit so far is that I think it reads better if you take small out before parade in the fourth line from the end, but that's just my opinion.

Well I apoligize for waiting so long before writing again. Last year ended in a terribly stressful way. In November, I was laid off from my job as a legal assistant. I worked for a small firm, there was more money going out than coming in and as I was the newest employee, it was inevitable. After th...

This reminds me of the scene in Ghostbusters II when the Titanic comes back as all the ghosts are taking over Manhatten.

Of course, I'll have to think of something a bit more original for my story. LOL.

Oh, and in the football update. We beat Delaware and lost to Richmond.

Go figure.

At least there won't be playoffs this year. With the stress my hubby's been under, he needs some down time. Soon.
