OK, I'm taking the cheater's way out. I went and bought "20 Master Plots And How To Build Them" by Ronald Tobias at lunch. Yes, I'm just that desperate. What's next, selling my body for a plot? Lordy, I wouldn't get enough plot for a cartoon strip if I went that route.

X,

I don't need luck. I need a PLOT.

I have no plot, no ideas, no nothing.

I am DOOMED.

X, Yeah, I completed NaNo last year. For a number of reasons, none of which have to do with my lack of talent. First, I'm completely spoiled because NaNo originated in the San Francisco Bay area so it's HUGE here. Which means I can go to a Write-In almost any night of the week. I don't usually like ...

Liquid Courage

Liquid Courage Freedom slides down my throat, Harsh tannin, Softened by need, The first sip is always the Hardest. Slowly, gently, Emotions become unwrapped As the warmth spreads, Shoulders relax as the restraints Loosen. Expanding, moving, barriers fall As ruby droplets Leave silken trails Down th...

New Writing Courses - B&N University

Here's the link for the October Liberal Arts offerings from Barnes & Noble University. These are free courses but of course they'd love it if you bought the text from them. Looks like an interesting mix of stuff. http://university.barnesandnoble.com/campus_la.asp?r=1 Have fun ... Sakki :)

Blicky,

Your furballs are adorable; especially your tuxedo kitty. In fact, would you be so kind as to package him up and mail him to me. In exchange I'll send you a very overweight calico with a flatulence problem.

Thanks!

Del, I wish you'd finish the Florida thing. I thought that what little I read was so raw and so powerful that it practically begs to be written. It was almost voyeuristic reading it. But like, not in an icky way. However, what the heck do I know? And I hate it when people say, "I wish you'd ..." Sakki

X, What is this "I know I won't meet the goal" crap? Hell yeah you're gonna make it. And so is Del and so am I and so is Cyco. And Blicky, how do you know that all 50,000 words you pump out are going to be crap? There might be all kinds of stuff you spew out that will be useful later. Enough with th...

Del,

The only thing I found a bit confusing was that your essay started out being about the advantages of choosing a Community College but then veered off into gas prices. Personally, I would have chosen one or the other topic to write about.

Just my .02 cents.

Or perhaps I shouldn't be quite so obscure. :)

Is explaining a poem like explaining a joke? Like it's not a good thing if you have to do it? I'll have to ponder that a bit.

Mlou, "It" is truth. The poem is about a relationship that is filled with lies, but sustained by hope. The words that are capitalized are the lies; they are capitalized to show that the lies were obvious to begin with. Because the person wanted the relationship so badly, she ignored the lies. But in...

Blinded By Hope

It slides silently Through the veil Of our Dreams, So small, So unobtrusive. As I brush aside The darkness Of 3 a.m. imaginings, It rests, Waiting patiently. Hopes, whispers, The Promise of Soon. A Change of Plans, It sighs, prods, Sharpens. Just a few More weeks, Tomorrow, next month. Listen, it's ...

Blicky, Yes, you're paranoid. Or perhaps she needs glasses and didn't see you standing wherever you were standing. Or maybe you reminded her of an ex-boyfriend. Professional avoiders? What is a professional avoider? Are you saying that these people knew you prior to your appearance at this mixer and were avoiding you? Or that they were people you didn't know but they didn't come up and talk to you? If they were people you didn't know then perhaps they think...
