This thread actually got me thinking and helped me write a new blog related to the subject. Thank you. I guess that, in itself, shows that the muse can be triggered by websites just like this one. Thank you Wordtrip. PS. Shameless plug for one of the best conferences I've ever been to. Its in Colora...

I've found I have to take my laptop to a bookstore and plug in the headphones. If I stay home, I find myself doing everything but write. I'll surf the web, check emails...etc. Before I actually write, I will read WD or The Writer magazine. That usually primes the pump. Sometimes I'll get on my websi...

Hmmm...why is it that this time of year always means a slow down in writing for me? I've been away from CB for almost a month now and neglecting my website as well. It isn't the holidays, because they aren't upon us yet. It just seems like this becomes a really busy time that takes away from my writ...

I guess I should have added "Interpretation of your words" as one of the obstacles writers face every day. :whistlinginnocent: Frankly, I honestly didn't expect to be in the middle of such controversy by supporting Funky. If you read my posts you will see that was what I was doing. I guess I also di...

Wow, who could've imagined a single post would warrant so many exclamation marks? :) While I enjoy debate and differing ideals, I didn't mean to spark a tidal wave of emotional posts and sarcasm. It amazes me that a single word in the english language has been able to morph into a profanity....

GOOOOOOOOOOO Funky! :-D You tell him! I don't agree with CZ, because I believe that it is the day to day events, along with ANY other writing, that keeps your muse alive and kicking. You don't have to stop everything else you are doing to concentrate on a novel. You are concentrating on it almost ev...

Well, I have been keeping up with the website and it seems to get some attention...I only hope the attention eventually comes from agents, editors, or anyone else that might be able to give me a nudge toward publication. If nothing else, it keeps my creativity up. I am about 1/2 way through the firs...

Thanks, Charles. I agree and took your advice. I added some content to the front page so visitors can see immediately when there are updates, so they don't have to keep fishing through the entire site. I think most sites are works in progress, don't you think? If you have any other ideas or suggesti...

More work on Crossing Boundaries. I've been maintaining my goal of at least 500 words a day, but ran into an issue with character development. I'm almost 1/2 way through the first draft, but I've decided to break one of my rules by going beck to do some editing. I felt I needed to in order to get th...

For horror I would have to say SK's The Shining. It is a classic style that encompasses the haunted house, possessed father, child with supernatural abilities, seclusion from the outside world...etc. It has it all. The other possibility is The Exorcist. There is nothing scarier than these two books,...

If there is a TV on somewhere in the vacinity, I can forget writing. I usually have to go somewhere else to write, somewhere out of the house entirely to make sure I don't get sucked into the boob tube. I am so addicted at times that even after I have flipped through the channels and found there is ...

Excerpt from my blog on http://www.HykersTrails.com : I found myself sitting alone in a theater at 10:00 this morning. As I munched on some popcorn and watched the Fandango puppets dance around on the screen, I pondered the odd phenomenon of how it is that I find myself places I never planned to be....

Thank you for the motivation, BF. I am 150 pages into Crossing Boundaries and I was about to go back and rewrite a huge change in the story line. I am now thinking I will take your advice and just push forward and pretend the changes were already made. At least I won't stop my momentum that way. :)

Well, I'm a full 40,000 words into my novel "Crossing Boundaries". Kal has been busy working on his marketing strategy for "Bone Hill" and it makes me wonder how writing and having a book published became so difficult. It's not like I imagined where all I needed to do was write a book and send it ou...

I hate when tragedies happen to people around us to remind us how good we really have it. I went to bed the other day with my wife, we've both been plagued with family issues that have been stressing us out to the point of exhaustion. As we lay there in the silence, a thought occurred to me. I felt ...

Latest Blog entry- I wanted to go to Borders and drink a coffee while working on La...L... I can't even bring myself to say the name. The realization that my writing companion is gone hit me full force when I walked into the den to grab my flash drive and head to Borders. Poop. Now what do I do? I s...

I agree with Pengwenn, just work on originality for your story. To be honest, I am already intrigued with the basic concept because I am one of those who loves a "Super-powers_ kind of character....or some supernatural abilities. Let us read some of what you've written please. I'd love to read it. :)

I'd like to have a happy ending to the Lappy story. I'm still working on reviving it. The second reformat took place this morning and now I will spend the rest of the day trying to coax it to life.

I will update as I know more...

Here is an excerpt from my blog in Hyherstrails.com-- The Lappy saga continues-- After reformatting, I had high hopes that the problem would have been solved. Alas, it was not to be so. (alas??) I was able to type around 500 words before Lappy took a nosedive and erased the work I had not been smart...

:-D Thats why they call it an adventure. So, I reformatted the Laptop and waited until today to actually put it to use... It crashed on me again. I spoke with an IT Techno-geek who explained what it might be doing and how to possibly fix it, while I nodded my head and tried my hardest to look ...
