Hmmm. My other language is ASL- American Sign Language. And that's getting kind of rusty from disuse.

THanks for your replies. I appreciate the feedback. Hmmm. I've always been warned flashbacks are tricky little buggers, so I guess I'll play around with the idea a little longer before making any huge changes. Right now I have the MC in a position in chapter 1 that he ends up in again at the ...

THe reason I'm playing with the idea of flashbacks: My MC makes a hard choice in the heat of the moment and the results follow him through the story, kind of like Post traumatic stress. I have the pivotal action in chapter 1 and go on from there, but now I'm thinking I might ought to (southern speak...

writing with flashbacks

Can anyond tell me some well-written examples of books using flashbacks as a storytelling method? Preferably mid-grade or YA stuff, but I'll read pretty much anything. THanks. I want to tinker with my WIP and try to keep the 'mysterious event' a little more mysterious.

I like the essays, too. Number nine has me thinking on my WIP to see if my teenage boy is believable. Hmmmm.

The head bashing side. I'm not into the teeny-bop stuff. (Hannah Montana, LIzzie McGuire, etc)

I'm about to sound like my mom. "Turn that stuff down!!!"

I guess my best bet would be Bethany House. The other places I've looked at aren't open to unsolicited stuff.

As far as Harlequin, I've toyed with the idea of writing a romance, but that'll have to be later. I like YA right now.

Mlou and Writingmom, Polish and publish? Scary! No, the first story I wrote wasn't even in my genre, so I have no confidence in it, whatsoever. I also never quite finished the story, even though I reached the 50K required to 'win'. Last year's effort is a YA novel. I've had a couple of people read i...

The first time I did it, I just wanted to see if I could. the second time I did it, I wanted to prove to myself that it wasn't a fluke the year before. I wonder what my excuse for madness will be this year?
