More happens to you in a week than to most people in years. You have SO MUCH material. For nonfiction there probably needs to be SOME ending, not necessarily a happy one. If there's no ending yet, just go with fiction.

Now that you're inspired, (because of me) it's time to get cracking!

This is good writing... "Then he turned away and refused to look at me, and a thought occurred. Oh dear gods... did I hurt his feelings?? I didn't think THAT could happen! No, no. I just thought that it probably DID have significance, but if it didn't, that's cool.

The fulls were requests for the full manuscript. The book has elements of historical fiction, but will be marketed as commercial/literary. It's about the Japanese internment in Seattle during WWII, as seen through the eyes of a 12-year old Chinese boy, who is sent to an all-white school where he fa...

Re: Where the Nano people at?

There was story in the Sunday Washington Post about nano, and they interviewed people at a cafe in DC who were attending a big, organized nano writing event sponsored by the cafe. My first thought was "Yeah, that's how you write a novel in a month -- go to a party and bring your laptop."

In all honesty, I too am a bit surprised by the positive response rate. I think once I sent out 10 queries and had 4 ask for the ms, but I'm not positive about that. My biggest hope in this endeavor comes from the fact that the cozy market is an easier sell than the thriller market. We shall see.
