I can understand why Alvin Shwartz's Scary Stories books are at the top of the list. The art in those things terrified me when I was little. I still loved them though, and I'm glad my parents didnt care what I read. And Forever (#8 ) is out and out erotica. Which is why I loved it so much as a 12 yr...

I once proved a prof wrong that was convinced that every story had a deeper meaning. I wrote one deliberately with no meaning but lots of "potential metaphors" and calimed I found it in an anthology and wanted to know what it meant. After a few days of analysis, he came back it a WAY IN DEPTH meani...

I used to *adore* Christopher Pike. He's actually one of the reasons I wanted to become a writer way back when I was eleven. I tried to write just like him, and of course failed miserably. I think I have almost all of his books in a box in my dad's attic. Some of my favorites were Master of Murder (...

Ursula K. Le Guin: A Message about Messages

http://www.cbcbooks.org/cbcmagazine/mee ... ula_k.html

It's her reaction to the way ppl look for 'messages' in books. I totally agree with her. I always hated it when in class the teacher would ask me about messages and meanings.

Don't worry. I've gone through the same thoughts, but I dont dwell on it. It'll only inhibit your writing if you do, and that's not cool. Anyway, I would hope that everyone here is intelligent enough to know the difference.

I like the smoothness of gel pens when I write, but they run dry so quickly its hadly worht the cost. Earlier this summer I went through a 6-pack of them in a 5 day period. I prefer a black rollerball myself.

My favorite character is from my NaNo story three years ago, The Wet Spot. He's a side character, a drag queen named Miss Francesca, who is in love with the Straight Bartender at the club where he performs. His/her sidekick is a transgendered 17 yr old named Lexie, and Miss Francesca is her "fairy d...

When I'm writing in a notebook with a pen, and even sometimes when I'm typing, the first thing I do is write a quote from Buffy the Vampire Slayer: "You love someone who hates us. You're sick." It's from an episode that aired in 1997, and I have been writing it ever since. I think its kind of poetic...
