Author's Work

Echoes of the past
gather,
to create wet
memories
that flow freely.

The unexpected rush
spreads
a blue stain
across my work
giving it promise.

Hi back, Mlou. My "self" has been gone for awhile looking and looking at houses. Like you we've moved :) . Just two miles, but still------- While my husband enclosed the double carport for a garage and remodeled the basement, I stripped off all the wallpaper and hung new as well as did most of...

Dreams
In my dreams
I kissed the moon
and we became
good friends;
ever faithful
to respond
with light
that never ends.

He chases shadows,
pulls at tides,
hangs breathlessly
in space.
I fall asleep
within his arms
and feel I'm
touched by grace.

After posting this I figured it was a simile not a metaphor or maybe neither and didn't really go with anything. RISK would probably be a better title. :)

Paralyzed

The sea, shallow or deep?
Who's to tell,
unless you take
that monumental leap
into the unknown swell.

Life, costly or cheap?
Who's to tell,
unless you take
the step with passion deep
and come out of your shell.

Hi Mae, I like all of your thoughts, just a suggestion for # 2. Quiet rain showers lie in puddles awaiting a little boys joy. ?????? I liked the original #l a lot. I would use "lose" in place of "trade" and "to" in place of "for" to read: Birch and maple lose their cache of gold and ruby to winter's...

Young Love

Lovers laugh,
kiss and embrace
while blushing roses
bloom on the
lovers face.

The old wooden mill creaking,
rushing water laughing
through the spillway,
competing with
the voices of spring.

Mlou, you always come through. I was about to ask you, "How many years have you been writing poetry?", but thought better about that and just thought I'm glad you do. It was actually # 1 writing prompt that inspired my poem although it ended up being # 2. :) PW, don't ever underestimate your ability...

Thank you, Mae, for pointing out all of those things that are special to you. I love the friend with open arms. Mlou, I think all women have their special place for memories. This is mine that I just rediscovered the other day. Didn't know I would be sharing it with WT. :) MUSINGS In my dresser a me...

Thanks for the critique, PW. That's what I want. I have been thinking of different songs he could be singing and this one fits a few paragraphs down. I can't remember the other one I wanted to use. I didn't write it down, but I'm sure something will come to me. Any ideas?

Mlou, I couldn't resist. The devil made me do it. I feel it rising in my throat and hanging there awhile. I cough and cough til it's dislodged and swallow it like bile. Well, true to form it comes again closing off my throat. I hack and cough and cough and hack to rid myself of phlegm. and...

This is just the first couple of paragraphs of a story I've started from this picture. I know where I want to go with this (have 3500 words already) but need to keep at it. SECRETS Laura McGill rounded the corner of Stoker's Mercantile and saw the bent old man before he saw her. She watched him as h...

IMAGE In the misty reaches of my mind an image forms, light as gauze. Floating along the streams of memories and drawing me to her she places the oar once again in my hand. Guiding myself through swirling mists and the labyrinths of yesterday I discover truth. The mist clears. My gauze image melts. ...

I'm scrubbing the bathroom floor,
my leg's cramping more and more.
The floor will be clean
and have a great sheen
but I'll be in bed for sure!

Took a break from the above and checked out WT. Couldn't resist!!
