I work with two boys;
one aged 11,
the other aged 9.
I scream in the car
every time I head to work.
The 11 year old
decided today was a good day
to abuse a girl in his class.
I pray out loud after my daily scream
that I will have the patience I need.
He thought squeezing her tush
(and all that implies)
was a good idea.
I teach them to chew
with their mouth closed.
He got kicked out of school.
He said, "I don't know why they did that."
I try to get them to sweep the floor,
take care of the silverware,
perhaps put their clothes in the dirty hamper.
The 9 year old's cousin
put a barrel to his head
while the family was watching
Deal or No Deal.
I want so badly for this kids
to be able to help themselves.
I arrived at his house
at a quarter to 4
(I let him ride the bus
since he asked nicely).
I need for these boys
do to well.
By 4:30, he had bitten me,
kicked me, thrown his shoes at me,
and called me many many things
I don't wish to repeat.
I hope one day they'll be
good members of society.
He wanted to go see the body,
freshly dead,
not go with me
to be in the community.
My Cd player in the car is stuck on "A little priest";
I'm slowly wasting away into insanity. _________________ I'll leave you a note in the freezer.

The above poem is pure conjecture. Please don't take it as autobiographical. _________________ I'll leave you a note in the freezer. |

Perhaps consider: "By 4:30, he had bitten me, [...]"
It was a little weired to read. I'm glad, however, that this isn't autobiographical. It put me off because I'm so anti-violence, pro-civility. But it wasn't poorly written, please don't think that I'm implying that- not by any means. Most of what winds up on this site is far, far, from that.
So yes, good job. (thumb up)
